Ballet Petite is the leading provider of creative movement, primary, and beginning ballet classes for children ages 18 months through
6 years. Founded by Nancy Parenti in April of 1996, Ballet Petite provides parent and child educational classes in the community.
The first classes were held in a rented church space, managed by Washington Parent newspaper with an enrollment of twenty students.
Ballet Petite quickly gained a reputation among parents for providing a unique and magical atmosphere. Through word of mouth and with
minimal advertising, Ballet Petite’s enrollment rose to fifty-six students in its second quarter, and one hundred fifty students in its third
quarter. Ms. Parenti subsequently incorporated Ballet Petite, removing it from the oversight of the Washington Parent newspaper.
Ballet Petite has created a reputation of a caring, safe, and exciting environment for young children. By upholding the highest standards
of arts education, Ballet Petite is now a recognized brand. Our leadership and teams ensure that our quality always matches
our customer’s expectations
Ms. Parenti is the director and has developed a curriculum for six age divisions including 120 fairytale lessons. Each class is built
upon developmental objectives for a young child. Ms. Parenti determines a movement pattern, story line, and musical selection to
attain objectives in music, pantomime, etiquette, dance technique, and dance composition. Each Storyballet is created for a
particular age group in Ballet Petite’s student population of children aged eighteen months to 4 1/2 years.
Today, Ballet Petite has four locations in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC. Its corporate headquarters are in Bethesda,
Maryland. Ballet Petite currently offers over 200 classes with a staff of over 20 professional dance instructors.
Ballet Petite has successfully branched out into related services, such as Petite Parties, Musical Theatre Petite, Tap Petite,
the Youth Performing Arts School, and Ballet Petite On Tour using its base of class and production materials.
